Curious what our couples ask us most often during the wedding planning process? We're revealing their questions, below! How much does a destination wedding cost? For 7-nights at an all-inclusive resort, expect to spend approximately $3,000 for the both of you. Most resorts charge between $150-$250 per person, per night – but that includes your room, your meals, your drinks, taxes and airport transportation. For 2 round-trip flights, you’re looking at a total cost of around $1,000. This will also be dependent upon the airline you’re using, the time of year, and of course, your destination of choice. The wedding usually consists of 4 events; a welcome party, the ceremony, a cocktail hour, and a dinner reception. Wedding packages typically include the ceremony location, bride’s bouquet, groom’s boutonniere, officiant, cake, chairs for about 40 guests. Packages range from $0 (you read that right!) to $15,000, but most couples all into the mid-range of $5000 - $7000. So, for a grand total of about $10,000, you and your fiancé can enjoy a week-long tropical wedding celebration for about a quarter of the cost of a normal wedding! For more on costs, check out our Destination Wedding Cost chart. Which resorts are the best to get married? There's a lot to think about! Destinations, budgets, guest count, venue ideas. We cover a lot of this here. But we also suggest going with the resorts that have FREE wedding packages! In addition to your resort’s all-inclusive benefits, wedding packages can include everything from expert wedding designers and basic décor, to sound systems, the ceremony officiant, a wedding certificate, a semi-private dinner, a honeymoon package, and much more! The best part? You can always add on specific customizations to your free package to make it your own! Almost all resorts also offer premium wedding packages for a upcharge to match your specific preferences and personality. Wanna check out some of our favorite resorts with free wedding packages? Not sure when to have your destination wedding? Then, say no more - this blog will be a great a reference as you get planning! The Best Months for Your Destination WeddingMid-Season Mid season runs from Easter though August and in early January. Here, you can expect pretty average rates, making it a safe option for your destination wedding. Low Season Low season runs from September through early November and early December. You’ll get the best rates if you choose a wedding date in low travel season - plus, you'll find more availability at your resort of choice! The Worst Months for Your Destination WeddingHoliday Season Yep, you guessed it - rates are very high during the holidays and often present sold out resorts. Think about holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s and Easter, but also special times like Mother's Day and Father's Day. Be kind to your guests and try to avoid these dates! Peak Season Another challenging time of year is mid-Jan through Easter - which is the peak season for destination weddings. Again, we're talking the highest rates and limited availability. Have questions for us? We'd be glad to help you with your destination wedding journey. Simply click below to get in touch! Creating the guest list for your beach wedding isn’t as stressful as you think! Here are some fool-proof ways to get it done with ease: #1 Get Organized To get a better idea of how many wedding guests to expect at your destination wedding and how many rooms to reserve, get yourself organized by creating a chart in Excel or something similar so you can visualize everything side-by-side. Create a master list of all the guests you plan to invite. #2 Identify "Yes" Guests Now we're going to divide up your master guest list into three columns, A, B and C. Under the A column, put all guests you know will be at your wedding no matter what. These people include your bridal party, your parents and grandparents, and any close friends that wouldn’t miss it. Consider these people your “A List”, aka, anyone that is a definite yes. #3 Remove The No's Jump over to column C. This is where you will list the guests you must invite, but you know that there is no way they can make it for whatever reason. They will still be invited, but you'd be very surprised if they show up. This is your No list. #4 Identify "Iffy" Guests Now, create your B column for the guests you know would love to travel with you, but you're just not sure they'll be able to make it. These guests could go either way. Keep in mind, about 30-40% of your invited guests actually attend – but don’t let that worry you! This just means you could open your guest list up a little more than a traditional wedding guest list. Consider these people your “B List”, aka, anyone that is a maybe. #5 Estimate Total Head Count Add up all of column A and half of column B. This is your estimated guest count. It is still a work in progress, but you'll be able to get a better idea of how many rooms, chairs and pieces of cake you'll need. #6 Let Your Destination Wedding Specialist Know Now that you have a rough idea, you should contact your destination wedding specialist ASAP so they can begin the reservation process, identify group upgrade opportunities, and more. Well, there you have it! The easiest way to create your destination wedding guest list! For a better idea of what we mean, click here for an example. Why spend nearly $40k on a traditional wedding, when you can have a unique and intimate destination wedding for under $10k? Here are seven tips for keeping your budget in check without sacrificing any of the fun or frills: Go All-Inclusive For the best value, we highly recommend going all-inclusive. When all your meals, drinks, entertainment, airport shuttles and taxes are included, guests can gauge their budgets and plan accordingly. This is especially true for wedding groups, as the cost you pay for private dinners and events is significantly reduced. Convenience is also huge reason couples opt for all-inclusive. It is the best way to travel! Pick Off-Season The best rates are found during off-season in September and October. Besides the best room rates, you’ll find that resorts have lower occupancy levels during this time, leaving plenty of pool chairs open for everyone. November and December are also good options, as long as you avoid the holidays (when rates and occupancy goes way up)! Choose a Simple Setting A big draw to having a destination wedding is the natural and intimate setting it presents. Not only will it save you money on venue costs, but sometimes less really is more. After all, nothing says “I love you” like some swaying palm trees and an ocean view! Bring Your Own Vendors Have a photographer friend or hair-stylist BFF? Perhaps a DJ’ing college roomie? Well, then, you’re in luck! As long as these pros are staying at the resort with you for three nights, they are not typically considered outside vendors and you won’t have to pay extra to use them. Ask us how you can negotiate travel for these services. Free Wedding Package Most destination wedding resorts offer a complimentary wedding package, which covers all the elements you’ll need to pull off the perfect wedding. Some even offer an extravagant package that includes more than you’ll ever need. We recommend starting out with the basic package first, then add in where it makes sense! Honeymoon Split-Stay Another great way to cut down on costs is to combine your destination wedding and honeymoon (aka, a split-stay). Most couples stay at the wedding resort for 5-6 nights while guests are there, then move to a new resort where you can honeymoon for 3-4 more nights. This will save you a lot in airfare! Use a Destination Wedding Planner Last but not least…use a wedding travel specialist (that’s us!). A good travel pro will make suggestions for you and knows the resorts that offer the most amenities based on what your needs are. Trust us, you’ll be glad you did! Looking for a little push in the right direction? Then, fill out our destination wedding questionnaire to get the conversation started. We’ll get back in touch with you soon to chat! P.S. On the search for a travel agent for your destination wedding? Here's some tips for picking the right one! Consider The Candidate's BackgroundExperience This is the first thing you should ask a potential destination wedding specialist. As a bride and groom, it’ll put your mind at ease knowing your go-to person has years of experience in the field. Remember, just about anyone can plan a trip. You need someone who can plan an entire destination wedding experience and understands all the moving parts that go with it. Relevance Everyone always likes a recommendation, so be sure you ask the wedding planner you’re talking to if they’ve been to the resorts you have your eye on. That way, they can provide additional insight on things like service, food, entertainment, wedding décor, key staff, and more. Coordination The thought of transporting 50+ people from point A to point B can sound very daunting, but to a highly trained travel expert, it’s just another day. Be sure to ask them for examples of how they’ve managed group bookings, transfers, group excursions, etc. And Understand The Logistics!Fees Because every wedding has a budget! Be sure to ask your potential wedding specialist how much it is to utilize their services. You may be shocked at the wide array of agency fees out there! Free isn't always good here. Look for a balance of reasonable fees and good value. The right wedding expert is worth their weight in gold! Support It’s always great to know if your destination wedding specialist has an assistant or second point of contact in case they’ve fallen ill, are traveling, etc. That way you can rest easy knowing your questions and concerns will be responded to in a timely manner! After all, planning a wedding takes a village! Process Once you’ve gotten a good feeling about your potential wedding planner, the last thing you’ll want to know are next steps. The right candidate will have a straight forward game plan for you ahead so no guessing games along the way! Wanna know more about our destination wedding planning services? One question all couples ask is about tipping their destination wedding vendors. Tipping should always be about showing gratitude for a job well done and excellent service. Tips should be in response to the level of service you received, so the numbers we're about to share are a bit subjective. But, we're here to provide some guidance, or a reference point, on tipping for your big day.
Tipping Your Destination Wedding Vendors
Makeup Artist/Hair Stylist - 10%
Photographer - $100 Videographer - $100 Florist - Between $50-$100 - depending on the extent of services provided DJ - $100 Officiant - $50 Other Staff to Consider Tipping
Wedding Coordinator - $100
Waitstaff - $100-$200 depending on size of staff When's the Best Time to Tip?
The best time to tip is near the end of the night. We recommend splitting your tip cash into separate envelopes and dedicating someone you trust to manage and disperse the tip money. While you should make every effort to thank the vendor in person before they leave, they understand that you might be a little busy with guests.

Why did you choose Romance Travel Group?
We chose Romance Travel Group because we truly felt that Shelli and Heather had the expertise and experience that would be needed to make our destination wedding fun and successful. We had really no experience with planning an event like this on our own, so they put us at ease and we are so thrilled we went with them! What led you to choose a destination wedding? We chose a destination wedding because we had attended one in Mexico a little over a year before and had the time of our lives. All of the hanging out by the pool and beach gave their friends and families so much time to bond and make memories and we wanted the same for our guests when it was our turn. How did you select the resort? What were the deciding factors? We selected our resort in particular because it was a newer build and we had stayed at a different location of the Dreams resort chain in the past. We never actually saw our venue until we got there for the wedding weekend, so it was somewhat of a gamble, but we trusted that the service and food would be great just like we had seen at the other Dreams location. Lastly, we found that the prices they were offering for our guests’ nightly stays were reasonable for all that was included, and the resort threw in some extras for things like rehearsal dinner and additional rooms when a certain amount of people booked. Destination weddings are expected to increase in 2022 - and here's why! It's Unique! If an elaborate wedding ceremony is the last thing on your mind, you may want something a bit more scenic... more tranquil... and even a bit untraditional. Sound about right? Sure, you can make any wedding unique. But location offers an experience that makes it hard to forget. They're Romantic! On top of the sandy beaches, the colorful sunsets, and the warm Caribbean breeze, most resorts actually have special packages for newlyweds that are intended to enhance the romantic experience. Some of the perks we're talking about include room upgrades, resort points—and even spa credits. Couple's massage, anyone? Super Affordable! Speaking of perks, a lot of resorts offer wedding packages that include everything from the decor at the wedding ceremony, to the food and drink at the reception. Not to mention taxes, gratuities, and lovely accommodations! In fact, you can have a beautiful destination wedding for as little $10,000—quite the deal compared to the average American wedding of around $30,000+! Very Convenient! Besides travelling to the wedding destination itself, once you and your guests are there—you're there! It's nice to know you don't have to worry about rides to and from the ceremony, to the reception, then back to the hotel again—everything's usually within walking distance. Additionally, resorts typically have a workout facility, spa, and numerous restaurants and bars—a stamp of approval in the convenience department. Hey, it may even save you a honeymoon trip, if that's what you choose! Dedicated Experts! Did you know that there are travel agencies dedicated to planning the ultimate destination wedding? Most assume arranging these types of weddings are difficult. But with Romance Travel Group, you get to work with experts who have planned hundreds of destination weddings. Plus, they have great relationships with travel partners to ensure the most affordable rates, and will even try to match competitive prices. Another positive, is that you communicate directly with a "live" person from start to finish—that's not something you can say about your average travel website. Thinking about a destination wedding? Then be sure to consider these things before getting started! #1 Your Budget While a traditional wedding can easily cost $30,000 or more, we can plan you the destination wedding of your dreams for nearly a quarter of the cost. With that said, there are typically three factors that play into your costs: the resort, the airfare, and the wedding package. These things all fluctuate depending on the time of year you book and where you’re traveling, so something to keep in mind when determining your budget! #2 Your Destination of Choice We recommend choosing a destination that is easy to get to, so your guests aren’t spending an entire vacation day traveling. Places like Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic are fairly easy to get to and only require a 3-5 hour flight. Locations that are more exotic require multiple connecting flights and transfers, making it an exhausting day for your guests to endure. You can still get all the looks and vibes you want without the time and cost of long flights. #3 Your Wedding Date Your wedding travel costs will rely heavily on the date you choose. Peak seasons are usually from mid-January through Easter and will reflect the highest rates. Mid-season ranges from Easter through August, and even early January, and will have fairly reasonable rates. For a better bargain, try September through early November or early December. Schedule a call with one of our experts to discuss the most budget-friendly times to travel! #4 Your Guest Count Generally, we find that about 30-40% of those you invite will be able to attend your destination wedding. But don’t let that discourage you! Not everyone can afford to take the time off or travel. We suggest having a reception back at home to celebrate with those who were unable to attend. #5 Your Resort Preference Adult-only or family-friendly? Active and lively? It's up to you! We highly recommend all-inclusive resorts because they provide you with meals and drinks, making it a lot easier on your guests and their budgets. Additionally, many all-inclusive resorts offer couples a semi-private reception, resort credits, upgrades, and more! #6 Your Ceremony Style Envisioning yourself tying the knot on the beach? Or perhaps, you’ve thought about saying “I do” under a beautifully-decorated gazebo? Some couples even go all out on a swanky rooftop! Oftentimes, your resort will offer many options for you to choose from based on your preferences and guest count. You’ll even have a plan B lined up in case it rains, so no need to worry about that! #7 Your Ceremony Type A legal ceremony is when you receive a marriage certificate from the destination you’re married in, and is recognized legally back home. These ceremonies typically require more paperwork, have additional fees, and occasionally require blood tests. A symbolic ceremony has no legal binding, and makes up approximately 80% of destination weddings. Typically, the bride and groom will go to their local clergy or courthouse and become legally married before they leave. A symbolic ceremony is just so much easier! Ready to get started? You’re having a destination wedding, yay! Now it’s time to invite those guests. Here's some tips to get started: Give Them Notice It’s best to extend the invites 14 months in advance, just after your resort has been booked. The reason you want to do this is so your guests can plan out their vacation time, reserve a babysitter (if needed), and have plenty of time to save up! Save The Dates To ensure your guests have the proper notice to travel to your destination wedding, you’ll want to make sure you send the save the dates out well in advance. The extra time will allow your guests to save up on vacation days and budget accordingly. Be sure your save the dates include your wedding date, your destination, and most importantly –a link to your wedding website! No RSVPs Necessary An RSVP is unnecessary to include on your destination wedding save the dates because we track them for you! We’ll keep tabs on who is traveling with who and when, so you don’t have to be scrambling for final numbers. We’ve found that a traditional RSVP for destination weddings presents too many “false positives” or guests wanting to attend, but can’t. Charming hospitality, lively culture, and world-class beaches? There’s a whole ‘lot to love about a destination wedding! Keep scrolling to learn more! Destination Weddings are Cost-EfficientIt's Super Affordable One of the biggest destination wedding myths we hear often, is that it’s too expensive, but with the traditional American wedding costing around $30,000 or more, it's no wonder most people assume a wedding in a tropical paradise would be more. Luckily, most properties in Mexico can hold a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception for you and your guests for as little as $10,000 – significantly cheaper than your average wedding. And All-Inclusive Another reason why Mexico is great for destination weddings is the all-inclusiveness. Most properties include meals, drinks, entertainment, and activities, so everyone and anyone is taken care of all day and night. We also have a number of properties that offer free wedding packages, which include everything from a private ceremony location, to the cake and drinks. You Can Truly Make it YoursAll The Add-Ons How often do you hear the word “complimentary” associated with planning a wedding? Yeah, not so much. But in Mexico, it’s no surprise to see complimentary sky massages, champagne and strawberries, or private dinners thrown in as a way of saying “congrats” to the happy couple. We’ve even helped our brides and grooms get complimentary honeymoon nights as an added bonus. 😉 And Customizations Mexico is one of our most popular destinations for brides because of how abundant the options are. We partner with a variety of properties who value your uniqueness and creativity, so that ocean pier ceremony you’ve been dreaming about? Done. Curious how to select wedding vendors for your destination wedding? Then, keep reading for a little inspiration and our personal recommendations! Resort Vendors or Outside Vendors? There are 3 different kinds of "vendors" when planning a destination wedding. 1. Resort Vendors - Typically, your destination wedding resort will provide you with a list of approved vendors to choose from. From catering and photos, to makeup, music, décor and flowers - they've got you covered! The resort has already vetted these vendors and has contracted them to provide services for weddings being held at the resort. This is great if you like the vendor, as the vendor already knows the resort and there are not extra fees to work with them. You'll just pay for their services. 2. Outside Vendors - If you find another vendor who lives in the destination that needs access to the resort for the day, they are considered an Outside Vendor. Because these vendors are not approved or contracted, the resort will charge you a fee, called an Outside Vendor Fee, to allow them access. These fees can range from $500 per vendor to over $2000 per vendor. Ouch! 3. Wedding "Guest" Vendors - If you have a preferred wedding vendor back at home that you’d like to bring in for the big day, it’s totally doable! As long as the vendor is booked under your wedding group for a minimum of 3 nights, they are considered a guest, not an outside vendor. Most resorts allow this and will waive the outside vendor fee since the vendor is a guest staying at the resort. You will want to negotiate the vendor's travel costs in exchange for their services. Types of Vendor to Bring InWhile this may vary, couples will bring in a hair stylist, make-up artist, and photographer. If you'd like to bring in another vendor, simply let your travel coordinator know and they'll work with them to make it happen! DJ's are tricky because of all the equipment, but you can still ask about it. Have additional questions for us? Then, click below to get in touch with a destination wedding specialist, today! P.S. Not sure how to tie the knot (legally) in paradise? Then, read on to discover the ceremony requirements for your destination wedding! Legal Ceremony vs. Symbolic Ceremony?First thing’s first. What exactly is the difference between a legal wedding ceremony and a symbolic wedding ceremony? Well, a legal ceremony is when you receive a marriage certificate from the destination you’re married in, and is recognized legally back home. A legal ceremony typically requires more paperwork, has additional fees, and occasional blood tests. A symbolic ceremony has no legal binding, and makes up approximately 90% of destination weddings. Typically, the bride and groom will go to their local clergy or courthouse and become legally married before they leave. The best part? A symbolic ceremony and wedding can be performed just as a legal one would – so your guests will never know the difference. Destination Ceremony RequirementsMexico – As one of our most popular wedding destinations, the bride and groom will receive no legal bearing in this symbolic marriage. In fact, the only civil ceremony that is legally recognized in Mexico, must be performed by a judge. A blood test is required for this. Dominican Republic – If you decide to wed here, keep in mind the only legal ceremonies are the one’s performed by the judge or Catholic priest. Be sure your paperwork is notarized and translated into Spanish, which will typically add an additional $1000-1500 to your wedding costs. Any vow renewals will also serve no legal bearing, as that is performed by a non-denominational minister. Jamaica – Both civil and religious ceremonies performed by a minister are legally recognized in Jamaica. Vow renewals also bear no legal meaning, and the couple must be previously married. Our Ceremony RecommendationTypically, we recommend the bride and groom go to their local clergy or courthouse and become legally married before their destination wedding. But not to worry, a symbolic ceremony can be performed just as a legal one would – so your guests will never know the difference! Questions? Click the button below to get in touch with an expert! Curious how you can customize your destination wedding? Then, say no more! We've got all the details for you here... Start with a Wedding PackageThe best way to get ideas for your destination wedding is to start with a wedding package! This way, you'll have all the necessities in place and can add from there. But first - a little more about wedding packages. Here's a few questions brides often ask: Do all resorts have wedding packages? Yes! What is included in a typical wedding package? In addition to your resort’s all-inclusive benefits, wedding packages can include everything from expert wedding designers and décor, to sound systems, the ceremony officiant, a wedding certificate, a semi-private dinner, a honeymoon package, and much more! How much do wedding packages cost? Most resorts have a complimentary wedding package included in your stay (say what?!). Yep, you heard that right. In fact, free wedding packages usually offer all the basics you need for your wedding day. Looking for something more custom or specific? Well then, say no more, because most resorts also offer premium wedding packages for an upcharge to match your specific preferences and personality! Do wedding packages vary by resort? Yes and no. While resorts present their wedding packages a little differently, at the end of the day, you’re getting the same goodies for around the same price. How do I pick the right wedding package? Since all wedding packages are pretty much the same, we recommend selecting your dream resort first. Once you decide on the perfect place, then you can customize the wedding package of your dreams. Popular Destination Wedding ThemesOther ways to customize your wedding are by selecting a "theme." Here's some of our favorites! Boho - The natural wood and textures like macramé and dried arrangements give you perfect blend of nature and paradise. We’re especially loving the uniqueness of the pointed arbor and wooden aisle. Lavish - Golden chairs and a white petal runner will make you feel like you’re walking on cloud nine as you make your way to say “I do” to your handsome groom. A dramatic floral-draped altar, stunning decor, and elegant touches will be a daydream that feels too good to be true! Tropical - From the lush greenery and palm leaves, to the exotic flora and sound of the ocean in the background –you really can’t go wrong with this classic tropical collection. Truly elegant. Truly simplistic. And truly amazing. Modern - The ultimate blend of luxury and fun with whimsical decorations, callas-topped columns, and a dramatic circular floral arbor. Couples also adore the unique acrylic napoleon chairs and modern touches in this collection, as it’s quite the eye-catching display.

Attention brides! We know you've got questions - and that's why we've rounded up our most frequently asked destination wedding questions for ya below. Keep reading for insight from the best in the biz! Frequently Asked Destination Wedding QuestionsQ: How do I choose a wedding location and resort? A: This is often the most difficult part of planning a destination wedding. Our best advice here is to find a travel agent that specializes in planning destination weddings. Anyone can book a trip. But planning a destination wedding for 20, 40 or 100 guests takes a completely different set of skills. Need a recommendation? Reach out to one of the award-winning agents at Romance Travel Group. Destination weddings are our passion! Q: What will my guests think about traveling to my wedding? A: Most of your guests will be thrilled at the idea of a vacation with you! Some will be concerned about cost or safety. Your agent will communicate with your guests, answering all their questions and making sure they know everything they need for their trip. Trust us… your guests will RAVE about your wedding. Many destination wedding groups start traveling together every year because they had such a great time at the wedding. They will have a great time, and they will thank you for nudging them outside of their comfort zone a bit. Q: How much will my destination wedding cost? A: Legit question! We often say that the couple can expect to pay under $10,000 for the trip, ceremony and reception. This can vary, of course, but it is a good estimate. Your guests can expect to pay about $1100 for a 3 night/4 day all-inclusive experience in Mexico or the Caribbean. Q: How can I be sure my wedding will be what I want? A: Most resorts have wedding departments with a team of coordinators on-site that will execute your vision. You can send them photos, Pinterest boards, spreadsheets, etc, and they will recreate the wedding of your dreams. Just about anything you see at local weddings can also be done in destination. Q: Who will assist us and our guests with all the travel plans? A: Remember that destination wedding travel expert we mentioned? She will work with each guest to create the trip that works best for them. Some guests will make a week-long vacation out of their trip, while others will only be able to sneak away from 3 nights. No problem! Your agent will handle all the details so you don’t have to. Q: Ah! There's so much to do - how can I keep track? A: Your travel expert and the resort’s wedding coordinator will ensure everything has been considered and your big day is executed perfectly. Together, they’ll help you through all the steps and decisions that need to happen. You’ll be amazed at how seamlessly everything comes together. Why Have a Destination Wedding? And while you're here, it only makes sense to tell you all the reasons our former brides LOVED their destination weddings!

Curious how much your guests will have to pay to attend your destination wedding? Then, say no more – we’re covering it all, here! Keep scrolling to take a look. 😉 3 Factors that Determine Guest CostsDestination: Your wedding costs will rely heavily on the destination you get married in. Our recommendation? Go with one of "The Big 3" - Mexico, Jamaica, or The Dominican Republic! These locations are romantic, affordable, and have the largest variety of resorts under the sun! Time of Year: Guest costs are also determined by the time of year you get married. For example, the best rates are found during off-season in September and October. Besides the best room rates, you’ll find that resorts have lower occupancy levels during this time, leaving plenty of pool chairs open for everyone. November and December are also good options, as long as you avoid the holidays (when rates and occupancy go way up)! Resort: If you want the best pricing for your guests - definitely go all-inclusive. When all your meals, drinks, entertainment, airport shuttles and taxes are included, guests can gauge their budgets and plan accordingly. This is especially true for wedding groups, as the cost you pay for private dinners and events is significantly reduced. Convenience is also huge reason couples opt for all-inclusive! Average Guest Cost Break DownThe Resort: Most resorts charge between $150-$250 per person, per night –but that includes your room, your meals, your drinks, taxes and tips! The Flights: Two round-trip flights cost around $1,000 depending on airline and destination. Average Total Cost: For a 3-night/4-day package, each wedding guests will spend about $1,100 - not too bad! Have more questions for us? Curious how much to budget for your destination wedding? Well, here it is! A quick budget breakdown that might surprise you - plus, tips for keeping it under $10k! Destination Wedding Cost BreakdownResort Costs For 7-nights at an all-inclusive resort, expect to spend approximately $3,000 for the both of you. Most resorts charge between $150-$250 per person, per night, but that includes your room, your meals, your drinks, airport transportation and taxes. Of course, you’ll probably want to bring a little extra cash for spending, excursions and additional gratuities, at your discretion. Also keep in mind, prices may vary depending on the time of year you book, as well as the destination and resort you select. Flight Costs For 2 round-trip flights, you’re looking at a total cost of around $1,000. This will also be dependent upon the airline you’re using, the time of year, where you are flying from, and of course, your destination of choice. Wedding Package Costs Most resort wedding packages range between $0 and $5,000. You heard that! And although some properties offer some really great free wedding packages, most couples spend about $2,500 for additional customizations, upgrades, etc. Packages typically include the ceremony location, bride’s bouquet, groom’s boutonniere, officiant, cake, chairs, and semi-private dinner for around 40 guests. How to Save Money for Your Destination WeddingTravel During Off-Season The best rates are found during off-season in September and October. Besides the best room rates, you’ll find that resorts have lower occupancy levels during this time, leaving plenty of pool chairs open for everyone. November and December are also good options, as long as you avoid the holidays when rates and occupancy go way up! Find an All-Inclusive Option For the best value, we highly recommend going all-inclusive. When all your meals, drinks, entertainment, airport shuttles and taxes are included, guests can better gauge their budgets and plan accordingly. This is especially true for wedding groups, as the cost you pay for private dinners and events is significantly reduced. Convenience is also huge reason couples opt for all-inclusive. Choose a Simple Setting A big draw to having a destination wedding is the natural and intimate setting it presents. Not only will it save you money on venue costs, but sometimes less really is more. After all, nothing says “I love you” like some swaying palm trees and an ocean view! Bring in Your Own Vendors Have a photographer friend or hair-stylist BFF? Perhaps a DJ’ing college roomie? Well then, you’re in luck! As long as these pros are staying at the resort with you for three nights, they are not typically considered outside vendors and you won’t have to pay extra to use them. Ask us how you can negotiate travel for these services. Opt for a Honeymoon Split-Stay Another great way to cut down on costs is to combine your destination wedding and honeymoon (aka, a split-stay). Most couples stay at the wedding resort for 5-6 nights while guests are there, then move to a new resort where you can honeymoon for 3-4 more nights. This will save you a lot in airfare! Use a Destination Wedding Expert Last but not least…use a wedding travel specialist (that’s us!)
