Real Wedding: Chelci & Nick's Destination Wedding

El Dorado Royale ~ May 2018 ~ Photographer:  Caribe Photo.

Why did you choose Romance Travel Group?  I received the referral from a friend who worked with Romance Travel to plan her 104 person designation wedding. The confidence that Shelli made me feel was great. I was very impressed with her responsiveness and her knowledge and experience on destination weddings.
How did you select the resort? What were the deciding factors? El Dorado Royale was recommended to us by Shelli after we told her the things we wanted from our destination wedding resort. Such as good food and a place that could accommodate a large (75 person) destination wedding. She found us the most perfect resort to have our wedding!
Picture
Tell us about your wedding dress – How did you find it? Who went shopping with you? How do you feel wearing your dress? I found my wedding dress at David’s Bridal. My dress was perfect. I did not want to spend more than $2,000 on my wedding dress. I invited my Mom, Sister, Mother -in-law and sister in-law. David's has a huge selection so I tried on probably 60 dresses. I knew as soon as my sister zipped my dress that it would be the one I would ware on the big day. It just felt right.

Describe the booking process for your guests. Did they find that to be easy to navigate? Our Guests found the booking process to be easy and very painless. I really do believe the ease of booking was one of the reasons we had such a successful turn out.

What were some of your biggest fears or things you worried about as your wedding date drew near? How did you get through this? One of my biggest fears about my destination wedding was the lack of control I had in executing all of the details, but as a destination bride you understand that is going to be a fear when you decide to have a destination wedding. However, I had nothing to fear, the staff knew exactly what they were doing. The wedding was flawless. I put my confidence in my wedding planner and coordinator and I told them everything I wanted and nothing was left out!

Were your guests wowed by the resort and the all-inclusive concept? What was their reaction upon arrival? My guests loved El Dorado Royale. The lobby is breath taking, the food is out of this world. My guests loved the beach bar and the nightclub at night. We all gathered at Spot pool during the day to enjoy the sun and swim up bars.

How easy/difficult was it to travel with your wedding dress? Did you carry-it on, where did you store it? Did you get a lot of comments at the airport? Traveling with my dress was super easy. I put it in a dress bag and took it on as my carry on. It was no big deal. The resort offered to steam it for $15. Very easy. No need to worry about traveling with your wedding dress!

Tell us about your wedding – did you have a traditional wedding with a cocktail hour, dinner reception and dance? What was different about a destination wedding compared to a wedding at home? Our wedding consisted of a ceremony, a cocktail hour and a full reception. We got married at the White Gazebo at El Dorado Royale. We had our cocktail hour and reception right next to the gazebo on the beach area. It was perfect. We had a steel drum player for the ceremony and reception. We decided to not decorate the Gazebo as it was already beautiful enough with the beach setting. We had our own bar set up on the beach and we had the donkey for the cocktail hour. For the reception we went with the Costal Bliss theme, we paid for the outside strung lighting and the light up dance floor which was amazing. We used DJ Max to DJ our wedding, he will play anything and everything you want. We went with the BBQ beach display food option which was well worth it, our guests loved the food. We had the Caribe Photography for 6 hours of coverage. The wedding was perfect. Our wedding would have cost us double the amount of money if we had it in our home town. We got so much more for our money plus a vacation and memories with 75 of our closest family and friends.

What was the best part of having a destination wedding? The best part of having a destination is the chance to spend multiple days and a vacation with family and friends. We hosted a Welcome Party our first night all of the guests were at the resort and then a rehearsal dinner the night before our wedding. So we had 3 nights of private events that we got with our guests, not to mention the full days spent at the swim up bar!

What is your most favorite memory of your wedding experience? My favorite memory from my destination wedding is after the ceremony, looking out at our guests to see 75 of our closest friends and family here with us in Mexico. We all made a special bond that we will have the rest of our lives.

Would you recommend Romance Travel Group to other couples who are considering a destination wedding? I would 100% recommend Romance Travel Group to ANY ONE who is looking to plan a wedding. I already have 1 couple who is considering doing a destination wedding after they attended my wedding and were so impressed. I am also trying to convince my sister to go destination and use Romance Travel when the time comes for her big day!

7 Romantic Things You Must Do For Your Honeymoon

6/19/2018

These are everything when it comes to the ultimate honeymoon experience!
1. Work with a Romance Travel Specialist
Just throwing it out there!  Working with an expert in romance travel will not only help you identify the perfect honeymoon location and resort, but we'll work with you to ensure the entire process is a breeze!

2. Tell People
Don't hide the fact that you're on your honeymoon! Of course, we don't expect you waltz around the place in your matching Mr. and Mrs. shirts, but a casual "we're on our honeymoon" to resort staff can certainly run in your favor. In fact, a lot of resorts award honeymoon credits and special gifts to newlyweds. So, feel free to profess your love!  (PS: A good specialist will do this for you even before you arrive on site.)

3. Limit Social Media
We get it – sometimes social media can consume you. But a honeymoon is a special time in your life that happens just once. Don't forget to pause, savor those beautiful moments, and just enjoy the person you love. Social media can wait until you're home.

4. Pack Your Lingerie!
It's time to bust out the sexy lingerie, ladies! Wow your man with something special – you (and he!) will be glad you did.

5. Treat Yourselves
After months of stress, healthy eating, and exercise – you need a break. Take this time to indulge in some delicious dessert, have a spa day... heck, go skinny-dipping! You've earned it, girl!

6. Catch the Sun
Such a simple thing, but watching the sun rise and set on vacation is magical. Be sure to set aside time to see both, if you can! However, if setting an alarm on your honeymoon seems a bit daunting, then maybe snuggling up on the beach with a glass of wine in hand would be a better option to end your day.

7. Capture Every Moment
Life is all about balance, and this certainly applies to taking picture on vacation. While it's important to enjoy the moment you're in, you won't want to miss capturing those perfect moments on your special vacation – so be sure to bring the camera along!

5 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Choosing A Destination Wedding

6/6/2018

He popped the question and you said yes! Congratulations! Now thoughts of a tropical destination wedding are drifting through your mind. So many questions! A wedding pro can definitely handle the big stuff, like booking the wedding date and coordinating guest travel. But before you even get to that part, how do you know if a destination wedding is for you? Ask yourself these questions
1. Am I able to go with the flow and trust that the wedding travel pros I choose will have my back and make sure everything comes together in the end?

One of the first steps you’ll take is to find a travel agent who specializes in destination weddings. They will be your advocate, your go-to expert and your friend through the entire process. She will introduce you to the resort’s wedding coordinator who will personally plan all the details with you. Together, these two pros make it all happen. Sure, there will be bumps in the road, but in the end, it all comes together beautifully. You’ll need to trust them.

2. Is it ok with me if only half of the guests I invite actually attend my wedding?

Typically, only 30-40% of your invited guests will travel for your wedding. This means that if you invite 100 guests, 30-40 will witness your exchange of vows. Some couples chose a destination wedding just for this reason! Maybe you have huge families and don’t want a 300-guest wedding. If you prefer something a little more intimate and a lot more fun, this is a bonus for you! However, there will be some loved ones that just can’t make it work for a variety of reasons… work schedules, money, kids, passport issues, etc. Remember that your wedding will be perfect no matter who is there, even if it is just the two of you.

3. Will I be able to relax on my wedding day and take things in stride, even if it rains and all my plans need to be changed?

Ah, yes, things happen. What if it rains? Or the flowers are a shade off? Or a guy in a Speedo is gawking from his beach chair 50 yards away? Little things happen at EVERY wedding. If your beach venue has to be moved to the ballroom because of weather, will the show still go on? Of course it will! Resorts always have a back-up location ready just in case, and they will make sure all is taken care of. What is important to remember here is…. you’re getting MARRIED! Does it matter “where” as long as you have the “who?”

4. Will I be able to choose locations and details without seeing them in person?
Very few couples have the opportunity to visit their wedding resort before they arrive for the wedding. This is why it is so crucial to work with an experienced wedding travel agent who knows the properties and wedding teams by name. Lean on their expertise and recommendations and you can’t go wrong. Your agent wants the best for you and will only recommend properties and wedding teams she is confident with. Join some Facebook Bride groups and see actual photos of what other brides are doing. Live vicariously through them until it is your turn.

5. Am I ok if not everyone loves the resort and destination I choose?

If you are a people-pleaser, this can be tough. But, just know that not everyone is going to love what you’ve chosen. But you know what? That’s ok! This is YOUR wedding day and you get to choose. Your wedding travel agent will have your back and assure guests that they are in for a great time. Once everyone arrives and starts to relax and enjoy, they’ll be so happy to be there with you. Until then, just smile and say “Oh, we will have such a great time!!”

So, how did you do? Did you answer “yes!” to these questions? If so, congratulations!! You’re ready to say “yes!” to a destination wedding then, too! Ready for the next step? Finding the perfect wedding travel agent is the most important decision you’ll make. The experts are Romance Travel Group will not disappoint. Looking forward to “meeting” you!
