 Do Travel Agents Exist?

3/31/2017

We thought it would be interesting to know how many hours the typical person spends looking at their screen trying to find the best deal, the perfect resort and the most convenient flights for their next vacation. With the help of a little tool called Google, we found that on average, the answer is 20-40 hours. Whoa! Who has that much spare time these days?!? After all that time investment, surely this adventure seeker can guarantee their choices are perfect because they found pictures and reviews on the internet, right? (insert sarcasm!) Don’t risk a week of vacation days and thousands of dollars when a phone call or email to a travel professional is all you need to do to ensure a well-executed, memorable vacation.

“Do travel agents even exist anymore?”

Why yes, yes we do, but we have long since outgrown the name “travel agent.” We are smarter, and more experienced and capable than ever before. You may not see many storefront agencies on Main Street anymore, but we found that being onsite and learning first-hand what a property has to offer is what our clients expect and appreciate from us. The smart professionals have developed a deep niche to excel in, such as our romance and destination weddings niche. In fact, the more specific the niche, the greater the expertise.

There is something special about having your travel professional’s number saved in your contact list. It is exciting to think of all the possible itineraries they can put together for you. As you begin describing your next vacation to them, they should be able to hand-pick resorts and destinations based on what they know you like. They are a professional who anticipates your needs, saves you time and has your back. In this do-it-yourself world, it is important to put a value on time and expertise. What is the true price of a do-it-yourself vacation? Is it worth the risk? If you haven’t worked with a travel professional before, now it the perfect time to start.

A destination wedding planned by the experts at Romance Travel Group is:

More Memorable – Guests will thank you for creating such an amazing experience filled with wonderful memories.

Less expensive – On average, expect $10,000 for everything including flights, room, meals, drinks, wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner reception.
More Intimate – Instead of 200 guests you hardly know, enjoy quality time with the people who matter most.

More Time – There is no need to squeeze everything into a 4 hour blur of events. Take things slow and enjoy the resort atmosphere. Spend quality time together.

Less Work – You’ll have a few decisions to make, but we will expertly handle the big details for you.

More Relaxing – Enjoy lazy days by the ocean with a tropical drink. No rush, no stress. Your bridal party and guests will love it!

Less Drama – Fewer guests and more time together make a great combination. Everyone has fun!

More Beautiful – Talk about stunning wedding photos! No balloon arches allowed.

“Having a destination wedding was best decision ever, and Romance Travel Group made it happen in a big way. The entire experience was incredible and we are overjoyed by the memories we share with our guests. There are no words to describe how perfect our wedding was.”

 Pack Like A  Pro

The Romance Travel Group teams travels a lot. Some of us are better are packing than others, but we all have our tips and tricks. Here is our list of tips to help you pack like a pro:

Picture
  • Pack light. Pre-plan your days and outfits and use mix and match items that can be worn more than once. Only pack one extra outfit “just in case.” Use gallon size baggies to divide up outfits.
  • Limit shoes. Choose outfits based on shoe color. If you’re bringing black sandals, your outfits should all go with black. Leave the brown sandals and coordinating outfits at home for your next trip.
  • If you can manage with just a carry-on, do it. Try taking half of the things you need and twice the money. You can make buying a few new items a fun part of the adventure.
  • Pack a sleep mask and ear plugs. These can come in handy on a plane, train or in your hotel room.
  • Optimize your suitcase space. Roll your clothes, instead of folding them. Stuff socks, underwear, and accessories inside of shoes and around the inside edges. Leave no space unused.
  • Keep a large wrap in your carry-on, ladies. It can be used as a blanket on the plane, a scarf if it’s cold or a shawl on an evening out.
  • Use baggies to organize and hold your accessories. Plastic grocery store bags have multiple uses (laundry bag, shoe covers, keep liquids from spilling on clothes).
  • Pack some snacks in your carry on. Not only are they cheaper than buying them at the airport, but you can opt for healthier snacks or your favorite treats.
  • Use a small zippered make-up bag or pencil case to store prescriptions and things like aspirin, antacids, and a few band aids in your carry on.
  • Share your packing space. Traveling as a couple? Split your clothes between two suitcases on the off chance one of them gets lost during the flight.
  • Bring an extension cord. Although newer hotels have USB ports in rooms, it’s best to have an extra outlet to charge all of your electronics at once. This also comes in handy when multiple people are sharing one hotel room bathroom.
  • Make photocopies of your passport and stash one copy in your luggage and leave the other copy with someone at home. Use your phone to take pictures of your car in the airport’s parking garage so you can remember where you parked. Do the same for your luggage and its contents in case it gets lost.
