For months the team at All Inclusive Collection was raving about their new property called UNICO 20º87º Hotel Riviera Maya. It opened in March 2017, on time and fully prepared to welcome their first guests. I had been hearing incredible reviews from guests and agents who stayed at the property early on, and couldn’t wait for my own #MyUnicoExperience to come.
 
Arrival:  I arranged for a private transfer from the Cancun airport to Unico. The ride took exactly 60 minutes in normal traffic heading south past Playa del Carmen. I was greeted with a cold, scented towel and a fruity drink. Check in was quick, no wristbands needed.
 
App:  Before you leave home, download and sign in to the Unico App. The app allows you to view restaurant menus, order room or pool service, contact your local host (concierge), arrange housekeeping and wake-up calls, book spa treatments, order from the pillow menu, and view daily events. Pop-up events are also announced through the app.
 
Room: The standard room at Unico is the Alcoba Swim Up Pool room. I was given an Alcoba Ocean Front room, building 1, with full, sweeping views of the ocean. The rooms are modern and fresh and have a balcony with a hydro spa tub. Plan on falling in love with the robe hanging in your closet. You can purchase one to bring home for $100.  
 
Drinks: Creatively crafted cocktails can be found in the lounges where drink menus show off unique blends of local flavors and infused liquors. Try them all! I had fun sampling from the Shot Cart that made its way around the pool areas.
 
Dining:  I enjoy quality food and excellent service and Unico did not disappoint. The décor in the restaurant is beautiful and thoughtful. The staff has been trained well and knew how to execute even the minor details to perfection. Unico offers Italian, Asian, and Mayan cuisines, as well as a steak and fish house. I found a lot of little goodies and coffee in Café Inez as well.
 
Inclusions: One of the most unique things about Unico is their inclusion of unlimited spa treatments and local tours. You pay a 20% service fee/tax only on the services you book. The Unico website has a complete list of options you can choose from.
 
Spa: The gym and spa at Unico are beautiful! I booked The Esencia Signature massage, where two therapists work together in synchronicity. Amazing. I recommend pre-booking your spa treatments prior to arrival. The process is easy on the Unico website or through the app.
 
Private Events: I was at Unico for an industry event hosting over 250 guests. If you are considering a destination wedding or a corporate event, rest assured, the staff at Unico can put together one heck of an event for you! The difference is in the details, and Unico didn’t miss a beat.
 
Overall:  I think I have been introduced to my new favorite resort! Unico has everything and left me longing for nothing. The exciting part is that Unico is just a baby yet, and I can’t wait to see how it grows and evolves over the next year. The All Inclusive Collection team has delivered an amazing new resort to us.
