Congratulations on your engagement! This is such an exciting time, and you’re likely starting to think about what your wedding day will look like. If you’re considering a unique, beautiful, and stress-free celebration, a destination wedding might be the perfect fit for you. Here at Romance Travel Group, we specialize in destination weddings in Mexico and the Caribbean, and we’re here to make your dream wedding a reality. Here are five great reasons to talk to us about planning your destination wedding: 1. Affordability When it comes to weddings, a destination event can be surprisingly affordable. The average size for a destination wedding is around 50 guests, which keeps the celebration intimate yet lively. With our expertise, we can plan a full, unforgettable three-day destination wedding for around $15,000. From selecting the right resort to handling the logistics, we know how to make the most of your budget while ensuring every detail is in place. Let us help you find the perfect all-inclusive resort that fits both your vision and your budget. Check out our handy Destination Wedding Cost Calculator to see for yourself! 2. Quality Time with Loved Ones Unlike a traditional wedding where you may only get a few minutes with each guest, a destination wedding gives you days to relax and celebrate with those who matter most. Gathering in a beautiful tropical location lets everyone truly enjoy the experience together. Whether it’s lounging by the pool, exploring the area, or sharing meals, your loved ones will have quality time with you and each other. We take care of your guests, making it easy for them to attend and enjoy your big day without any hassle. 3. Unforgettable Experiences A destination wedding isn’t just a day – it’s a memorable experience for you and your guests. From exploring beautiful beaches to experiencing local culture, there’s something special about being able to slow down and truly connect with the place and the people around you. Our team has firsthand knowledge of the destinations we work with, and we have trusted partners at each location who help make every event exceptional. We’ll make sure you and your guests enjoy a wedding celebration filled with once-in-a-lifetime memories. 4. Less Stress Wedding planning can be overwhelming, but with a destination wedding, you can leave the stress behind. Our team at Romance Travel Group will handle every detail so you don’t have to worry. We specialize in destination weddings – that’s all we do – so we have the knowledge and focus to make your experience seamless. You’re in good hands. All you have to do is show up and enjoy. Let us take care of the planning so you can relax and look forward to your big day. 5. Stunning Photos
One of the best parts of a destination wedding? The breathtaking photos! Imagine saying your vows against a backdrop of turquoise waters and swaying palm trees – those are the kinds of memories you’ll cherish forever. With a stunning setting, your wedding photos will be absolutely jaw-dropping. Beyond the professional photos, there’s also plenty of fun with family and friends capturing those real, joyful moments through selfies and candid shots. These are the memories you’ll look back on for a lifetime. See stunning photos from a few of the weddings we've planned on our Real Weddings page. Planning a destination wedding is an exciting journey, but with so many resort options available, it can feel overwhelming. At Romance Travel Group, we frequently hear the question, "What resorts do you recommend?" Let's dive into how we help you find the ideal resort for your dream wedding. EXPERT TIP: To make choosing a resort easier, only focus on the resort for now. Set the wedding packages and venues aside and look at the resorts for what they offer for a vacation. Where can you see yourself hanging out with guests? Do you like the pools? How are the rooms? Are there enough restaurants? What’s the beach like? Do you like the overall atmosphere and aesthetics of the resort? All the resorts have packages and multiple venues, and we’ll get to that, but for now, focus on a “vacation resort”, then we can layer back in the wedding details when you know which resort you like best. Personalized Recommendations Just for You The first thing to know is that we are not tied to any specific resort. This means our recommendations are completely honest and unbiased. Our sole focus is on finding the best fit for you, not promoting a particular brand. Over the past 25+ years, we have explored hundreds of resorts and built strong relationships with those that offer the best experiences for destination weddings. In short... you can trust our recommendations. Tailored to Your Unique Vision We understand that every couple is unique, with their own dreams and wish lists for their wedding day. Our approach to recommendations is highly personalized. Our goal is to match your specific needs and preferences to the perfect resort. While we do have our personal favorites and insights into which resorts excel at hosting weddings, what matters most is what you, the couple, are looking for. What We Consider Location Location within the destination is also important to be mindful of. Most couples don’t want resorts that are more than an hour or so from the airport. All transportation is included, but after an early morning and a 4-5 hour flight, the last thing guests will want is a 2-hour drive to the resort. Do you prefer a resort in the “hotel zone” so you’re close to clubs and shopping? Or do you prefer the quiet and privacy or a more spread out beachside neighborhood? What will your guests prefer? Budget Consider how much you're comfortable having your guests pay for a 3-night vacation. Typically, budgets start at $1200 per person for a 3-night, all-inclusive vacation including air, hotel, transfers, meals, drinks, tips and taxes. Remember though, you get what you pay for. Atmosphere The overall vibe of the resort is important. It sets the tone from the minute you step onto the property. Do you like the pools? How do the rooms look? Are there enough restaurants? How is the beach? Is it modern enough for you? Tropical enough? Can you see yourself vacationing here? Adults only vs. Family-friendly Adults-only or family-friendly is one decision that often stumps some couples. "We really want adults-only, but we have one or two young kids in the family." Ah, we hear you! Even one child means we must go with a family-friendly resort. Adult only resorts require all guests to be 18 and older. Our best advice is this... do what YOU want. It is your wedding. If you really don't want children around in the pool, at dinner, you have every right to choose an adults-only resort. We can, however, recommend family resorts that are not "childish" if this is a concern. Just let us know. When recommending resorts, we consider various factors based on your preferences:
Our dedication to finding the perfect match means that you can trust us to guide you to the resort that will make your destination wedding everything you've dreamed of and more.
One of the first questions on every couple's mind is, "How much will our destination wedding cost?" It's a great question and important to consider as you plan your special day. On average, a destination wedding with about 50 guests typically costs around $15,000. However, it's important to remember that this is an average figure. The actual cost of your wedding can vary significantly based on several factors. Let's explore. Resort Selection All-inclusive resorts throughout Mexico and the Caribbean vary significantly. Some might be more luxurious and, therefore, more expensive. Choosing the right resort is crucial as it sets the tone for your entire wedding experience. Whether you want an intimate beachfront ceremony or a grand celebration, there's a resort that will match your vision and budget. One thing is certain... all-inclusive is the way to go! Having a set price for guests makes it so much easier to budget, and allows you a variety of extra perks and reduced costs. This is where an experienced destination wedding travel agent really shines! Simply put… we know the resorts. We know which ones price well while offering an excellent value. We know which resorts to stay away from. We spend time at the resorts so we can easily compare them and help you make the best choice based on your needs. No amount of Googling or resort review reading can replace the expertise of a good travel agency like Romance Travel Group. Wedding Date Picking a date can affect costs. Peak seasons, like holidays and summer months, will be pricier than off-peak times. If you're flexible with your wedding date, choosing a less popular time can lead to significant savings. Plus, off-peak seasons often come with more availability and special offers. Peak season = high rates: mid-Jan through Easter, all major holidays Mid-season = average rates: Easter through August, early January Low season = low rates: September through early November, early December Destination The location you choose also plays a role in the overall cost. Some destinations, like Mexico, offer more affordable options compared to others in the Caribbean. Each destination has its unique charm and varying costs for travel and accommodation. It's essential to research and choose a location that fits both your dreams and your budget. A major expense to consider for you and your guests will be the flight. One way to rule out a few destinations is to look at the cost of the flights and the flight itinerary. You’ll quickly see which destinations to rule out based on flight details. Personal Choices Your personal preferences for things like decor, entertainment, and extras will influence the final cost. Do you envision a simple beachside ceremony or a lavish event with all the bells and whistles? Customizing your wedding to reflect your style is part of the fun, and we at Romance Travel Group can help you prioritize what's most important to you. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to estimate what your destination wedding would cost? Well guess what? There is! We built our "Destination Wedding Cost Calculator" for exactly this reason. Give it a try! Remember, your destination wedding is a unique event, and you have the flexibility to control many aspects of the budget. By making informed decisions and working with experienced professionals, you can have a beautiful wedding that fits your budget. Our team at Romance Travel Group is here to help guide you through these choices to ensure your wedding is not only stunning but also affordable.

Keep reading to learn who you need on your side as you plan your destination wedding in Mexico and the Caribbean. Wedding Coordinator A wedding coordinator is a resort employee responsible for creating and managing all aspects of the wedding events taking place at the resort. There is no cost for the services provided by wedding coordinators. Your wedding coordinator will help you schedule venues, entertainment and vendors. They will often make suggestions and recommendations based on your needs and requirements. Resorts sometimes have a planning team located in the US or Canada that work with couples to lay out the wedding day vision and timeline. One to two months before the wedding, the planning team then hands off the wedding file to the on-site wedding team to fine tune and execute all of the details for the wedding day. Resort wedding coordinators know their properties well and can be a huge source of information and help for couples, especially since most couples do not get to see the resort or venues before arriving. Wedding Planner A wedding planner is an independent professional hired to organize your wedding, create the aesthetics and atmosphere for your day, and manage all vendors. A planner usually works with the resort wedding coordinator on your behalf. They are a liaison between the couple and the resort. Wedding planners can cost thousands of dollars, depending on the size and complexity of your wedding. They provide a lot of one-on-one consultation, attention to detail and specialize in bringing your exact vision to life. They are usually very resourceful and work with your best interests in mind at all times because they are hired to do just that. Destination Wedding Travel Agent Let’s face it. For many, images of the old school travel agency of My Big Fat Greek Wedding come to mind when the words “travel agent” are tossed around. For years, agents have tried to break away from this dated title and instead use labels such as travel advisor, architect, engineer and designer. But at the end of the day, all are true. With today’s online technology, just about anyone can book a trip. But planning a destination wedding thousands of miles from home in a foreign country for 20-200 guests is way, WAY more complicated than just booking a trip. An experienced destination wedding travel agent is worth her weight in gold when it comes to keeping you organized, guests informed and everything moving seamlessly and smoothly. Your agent should:
Finding and hiring a destination wedding travel agent should be the first step in your planning process. Before diving into resort options, choosing a wedding date or even picking a destination, do yourself a huge favor and spend some time talking to a few potential destination wedding travel agents. As with any professional, you may need to pay a deposit or a retainer to secure their services. You may even be asked to pay for their advice and expertise. Would you expect anything less from an expert? So what about the wedding coordinator and planner? You definitely will want the assistance of the resort’s wedding coordinator. She knows the ins and outs of the resort itself and is able to bring your wedding vision into reality. We suggest finding several inspiration photos (Pinterest is great for this!) to share with her, along with your budget. She will help you create the vibe you’re going for and offer suggestions and tips along the way. For most destination weddings, hiring an outside wedding planner is not necessary. Since destination weddings tend to be smaller celebrations, your travel expert and wedding coordinator should be able to handle everything for you. However, if you are planning a large or lavish wedding with a lot of details and events to manage, or if you lovingly refer to yourself as a busy-body or a worry-wart, a wedding planner is a good investment. Your peace of mind is priceless. As the saying goes, it sometimes takes a village! Monochromatic Color Palettes
One of the hottest trends for 2024 weddings is the monochromatic color palette. This stylish choice involves selecting a base color, such as blue, and weaving various shades and patterns of blue of it throughout your bridal party attire, flowers, and wedding décor. The beauty of this trend lies in its simplicity and the cohesive, visually striking effect it creates.
Why Everyone Loves It
Gone are the days when bridesmaids were expected to wear identical dresses. Thank goodness! Now, it's all about individuality and inclusion. By embracing monochromatic color schemes, you allow each member of your bridal party to express their unique style while maintaining a harmonious overall look. Imagine your bridesmaids in varying shades of pink, from the softest blush to the richest magenta, each in a dress that flatters their shape and personality. Not only does this approach make for stunning photographs, but it also ensures that everyone feels comfortable and confident on your big day.
Incorporating Monochromatic Themes
To successfully incorporate a monochromatic theme into your destination wedding, start by choosing a color that resonates with you and your partner. Then, think about how you can apply different shades of this color across various elements of your wedding. Here are some ideas to get you started:

Not only does it set the tone for the entire event, but it also helps tie together various elements from your invites to your wedding party attire, decor, and even your cake. In 2023, we're seeing some exciting color trends for destination weddings, ranging from shades of pink to earthy browns, richer jewel tones, classic greens, and elegant whites. Let's dive into each of these color trends in detail. The Pink Spectrum This year, any shade of pink is making a strong showing, from the palest whispers of blush to the bold and vibrant hues of deepest fuchsia. Pale pink exudes romance and softness. It's perfect for everything from your bridesmaids' dresses to floral arrangements and table linens. On the other end of the spectrum, deepest fuchsia brings vibrancy and energy, perfect for accent pieces, floral centerpieces, or even a show-stopping wedding cake. When pairing pink with other colors, consider the mood you want to set. For instance, pale pink pairs beautifully with greens for a garden-like feel, while fuchsia pops wonderfully against whites and creams. Earthy Browns We're going back to nature in 2023 with the trend of earthy browns. Think of colors reminiscent of woodland scenes, accented with touches of gleaming copper metallics and smooth, creamy hues. Earthy browns are a superb choice for the ever-so-popular rustic or boho-chic weddings, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Copper and gold metallics provide a touch of glamour and sophistication, while cream brings in a softness that beautifully complements these colors. These tones are excellent for venue decoration, attire, invitations, and more. And when you’re ready to combine these earthy tones, remember that they pair wonderfully with rich greens and pops of white. Richer Jewel Tones If you’re looking for something bold and vibrant, 2023 is all about jewel tones, but not as you know them. This year, the trend leans towards darker and deeper tones, think of sapphire blue or emerald green, garnet red, or royal purple. These colors are dramatic, romantic, and regal, perfect for a destination wedding with a luxurious theme. You can incorporate them into your wedding through attire, table settings, lighting, and flower choices. When coordinating with other colors, consider contrasting these jewel tones with metallics for a touch of glamour, or pairing them with shades of white to balance their intensity. Always Classic Greens Green is a color that never goes out of style, and in 2023, it remains a classic choice for weddings. Whether it's actual greenery or rich fabrics, the options are endless. Actual greenery can play a significant role in your decor - think leafy table runners, cascading bouquets, or a dramatic arch at the ceremony site. In contrast, rich fabric greens are great for everything from bridesmaid dresses to tablecloths. For color combinations, greens work wonderfully with whites for a clean, crisp look, or pair them with earthy browns for a natural, rustic, boho feel. Elegant Shades of White Last but not least, let's talk about the timeless elegance of shades of white. No matter the year or the trend, white remains a classic choice for weddings. From the purest snow-white to rich cream and everything in between, there's a shade for every taste and every venue. These shades of white can be used in virtually every element of your wedding, from attire to flowers, table settings, and stationery. When it comes to pairing white with other colors, remember that it provides a beautiful canvas that highlights any other color, whether it's a soft pink, a vibrant jewel tone, or a natural earthy brown. In conclusion, 2023 is proving to be a vibrant and dynamic year for destination wedding colors. From the romantic shades of pink to earthy browns, richer jewel tones, classic greens, and elegant whites, there's a palette to suit every couple's taste. As you plan your wedding, remember that the choice of colors is a personal decision that should reflect your personalities and style. Don't be afraid to experiment and most importantly, have fun with it!

Let’s face it… traditional weddings are expensive!! This is why more and more couples are choosing to have a destination wedding as a way to save money while still have a beautiful and memorable event. Not only do couples save money, but they get way more in terms of experience and memories. Keep reading to learn more! Popular Destination Wedding LocationsMexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic are some of the most popular destinations for destination weddings. These locations offer a variety of all-inclusive resorts, making it easier for couples to plan their wedding without having to worry about every little detail. The abundance of all-inclusive resorts also makes it easier for guests to attend, since their rooms, meals, drinks and activities are all included in one upfront price. Average Cost of a Destination WeddingThe average size destination wedding is about 50 guests, making it a more intimate and personal event. On average, couples spend between $10,000 to $15,000 on all the elements required to host a destination wedding. This estimate includes their 7-night trip, the ceremony, cocktail party, and dinner reception for all guests. It also includes all the food, drinks, tables, chairs, standard linens, servers, and venues. Still curious about how much a destination wedding costs? Check out our exclusive calculator: When compared to the average cost of a traditional wedding in the United States, which is well over $30,000 for a six-hour event, a destination wedding is a much more affordable option. Not only will you save money, but you will also have the opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends for a full four days, creating lasting memories together. Tips for Saving Money on a Destination WeddingThere are several ways to save money on a destination wedding without sacrificing quality. One of the best ways is to book your wedding during the fall months, when room rates are typically lower. Another idea is to rely on the resort’s natural surroundings for your décor. Who needs tulle, chandeliers and bows when you have swaying palm trees, clear blue waters and white sand beaches? For larger wedding groups, it will be important to find a resort that offers the best group amenities to help cover the reception costs. (Hint: we know the best resorts for this! wink, wink!)

Beach weddings are a popular choice for couples looking to exchange vows in a relaxed and intimate, tropical setting. While beach weddings are a lot of fun, choosing the perfect dress can be a bit of a challenge. With a little bit of patience and some careful consideration, however, it is possible to find the perfect beach wedding dress that will make you feel confident and beautiful on your special day. Dresses above are by Randy Fenoli Bridal. Check out his Beautiful Beginnings collection! When choosing a beach wedding dress, there are a few key factors to consider. First and foremost, think about the location and weather. Tropical beaches are hot and humid, so you'll want to look for a dress that is lightweight and flowy to keep you cool and comfortable. You'll also want to keep it simple – a beach wedding is typically a more laid-back and casual affair, so you don't necessarily need to go overboard with a super formal or elaborate dress (unless you want to!) Instead, look for something that is elegant but understated. Finally, don't be afraid to show a little bit of skin – the beach is the perfect setting to show off a strapless neckline or a high-low hemline, just be mindful of any cultural or religious sensitivities. The dresses above are by Pnina Tornai Bridal. There are a few different styles to consider when it comes to beach wedding dresses. Bohemian style dresses are perfect for a laid-back, boho-chic wedding. Look for dresses with flowy, ethereal fabrics and unique details like lace or embroidery. If you're looking for something a bit more formal, a Grecian-inspired beach wedding dress might be the way to go. These dresses typically feature classic, draped fabrics and clean lines. If you want to show off your legs, a short beach wedding dress is a great option. Look for dresses with fun, flirty details like appliques or lace. When it comes to accessorizing your beach wedding dress, less is often more. You don't want to overdo it with accessories, especially in a beach setting. A simple pair of earrings or a delicate bracelet is all you need to complete your look. Consider your footwear as well – a pair of high heels may not be practical on the beach, so consider opting for a pair of flat sandals or even going barefoot. Don't forget the veil either – a beach wedding is the perfect opportunity to wear a veil, and there are plenty of options that are lightweight and won't weigh you down in the heat. Don’t worry! Choosing the perfect beach wedding dress will be an exciting and fun part of planning your destination wedding. With a little bit of patience and support from your bride tribe, you can find a dress that is both comfortable and beautiful. Keep these tips in mind as you start your search and you'll be sure to find the perfect beach wedding dress for your special day.

Wedding Date: March 3, 2022 ~ Resort: The Fives Beach ~ Photographer: Timeless Photography ~ Bridal Salon: Posh Why did you choose Romance Travel Group? After doing some research around how to start planning a destination wedding in Mexico, I came across RTG in a Google search. I chose RTG after having a kick-off call with Shelli. She made me feel very comfortable with the way she explained how her company works, their process, and how they care about each unique wedding; it made me excited to want to move forward with even doing a destination wedding. She is SO friendly! What led you to choose a destination wedding? My husband and I knew we didn’t want to get married in Minnesota (where we live). After exploring destination weddings in other states (Arizona, Florida, and North Carolina), I realized how complex and expensive it’d be to do a “destination” wedding elsewhere in the US. Then, someone asked if I had thought about doing it in Mexico. I was hesitant at first, but after doing some research online, I read that destination weddings at all inclusive resorts in Mexico are so much more affordable! We probably saved ourselves $10-$15k just by doing it in Mexico. How did you select the resort? What were the deciding factors? I explained my budget, resort must-haves, and style I was looking for to Shelli. I was excited about all of the unique areas around the resort that would be awesome for pictures and it was family friendly which was important to us since there would be kids traveling. What were some of your biggest fears about having a destination wedding? Planning a wedding sight unseen. But, it ended up exceeding my expectations once I saw how everything was curated and set up for each event. Describe what it was like working with the wedding coordinator at the resort? What went well? Any challenges? The wedding coordinator was very friendly, patient, flexible, and listened to my budget concerns…helping to give me ideas and options that would fit into what I wanted to spend. The biggest challenge was getting timely responses from them. At one point, I hadn’t heard from them for 3 months and we were 1-2 months away from the wedding without having finalized all selections! Once back in touch with them, finalizing planning went well and they were really responsive.
