Beachy Destination Wedding Dresses

1/2/2023

Beach weddings are a popular choice for couples looking to exchange vows in a relaxed and intimate, tropical setting. While beach weddings are a lot of fun, choosing the perfect dress can be a bit of a challenge. With a little bit of patience and some careful consideration, however, it is possible to find the perfect beach wedding dress that will make you feel confident and beautiful on your special day.
Dresses above are by Randy Fenoli Bridal. Check out his Beautiful Beginnings collection!
When choosing a beach wedding dress, there are a few key factors to consider. First and foremost, think about the location and weather. Tropical beaches are hot and humid, so you'll want to look for a dress that is lightweight and flowy to keep you cool and comfortable. You'll also want to keep it simple – a beach wedding is typically a more laid-back and casual affair, so you don't necessarily need to go overboard with a super formal or elaborate dress (unless you want to!) Instead, look for something that is elegant but understated. Finally, don't be afraid to show a little bit of skin – the beach is the perfect setting to show off a strapless neckline or a high-low hemline, just be mindful of any cultural or religious sensitivities.
The dresses above are by Pnina Tornai Bridal.
There are a few different styles to consider when it comes to beach wedding dresses. Bohemian style dresses are perfect for a laid-back, boho-chic wedding. Look for dresses with flowy, ethereal fabrics and unique details like lace or embroidery. If you're looking for something a bit more formal, a Grecian-inspired beach wedding dress might be the way to go. These dresses typically feature classic, draped fabrics and clean lines. If you want to show off your legs, a short beach wedding dress is a great option. Look for dresses with fun, flirty details like appliques or lace.
When it comes to accessorizing your beach wedding dress, less is often more. You don't want to overdo it with accessories, especially in a beach setting. A simple pair of earrings or a delicate bracelet is all you need to complete your look. Consider your footwear as well – a pair of high heels may not be practical on the beach, so consider opting for a pair of flat sandals or even going barefoot. Don't forget the veil either – a beach wedding is the perfect opportunity to wear a veil, and there are plenty of options that are lightweight and won't weigh you down in the heat.
Don’t worry! Choosing the perfect beach wedding dress will be an exciting and fun part of planning your destination wedding. With a little bit of patience and support from your bride tribe, you can find a dress that is both comfortable and beautiful. Keep these tips in mind as you start your search and you'll be sure to find the perfect beach wedding dress for your special day.

Beach Wedding Attire for Men

Guys, it’s time to dress to impress! Here’s what the gentlemen should wear to a beach wedding:

Formal vs. Casual
But first, what’s your preference? Formal or casual? If you decide to go formal, then a suit is the way to go. Now, beach wedding formalwear can still be somewhat “casual” depending on the fabric and color – but we’ll get into that in the next few paragraphs. If you want to go with a more casual look, consider dress pants with a nice button-down shirt or polo.

The Fabric
Now that you’ve determined if you’re going for a more formal or casual look, it’s time to nail down the type of fabric you’ll be wearing. This matters especially if you’re getting married on a hot beach and want something light and breezy versus thick and itchy. For beach weddings, we highly recommend a nice linen suit or dress shirt, as it’s quite light and gives off a “beachy” feel. If you’re getting married during an off-season or at night, you might want to pick a thicker fabric in case it’s cool out.

The Color
Most men wear a tan suit, khaki dress pants, or a white linen shirt  for beach weddings. We’ve also seen dark linen pants, or a navy blue or charcoal suit for late night weddings or cooler seasons. Pro tip: try to avoid a white suit if you can help it! 😉

Accessories
For a beach wedding, many men choose to keep things simple when it comes to accessories. In fact, some men will do away with the tie or pocket square for a more casual look. We’ve also seen some men replace the suit jacket with suspenders and a nice shirt for a semi-formal look. Whichever way you go, just be sure not to forget the tropical boutonniere!

Choose Timeless
If you’re still having trouble deciding what to wear to your beach wedding, then go with something classic! Trendy pieces will eventually go out of style and might have you cringing when you’re flipping through your old wedding photos. With something timeless, you’ll be pleased with how handsome you looked!

5 Tips for Nailing Your Beach Wedding Photos

2/10/2020

Looking for some wedding photo inspiration? Then, keep reading for some suggestions on creating the most memorable photos ever!
Picture
Enjoy Yourself
We hope this goes without saying… but remember to relax and have fun! Obviously planning a wedding can be stressful and tiring, but the day of should be enjoyable and nothing less than perfect. Don’t let the little things get to you so it’s written all over your face during your photo shoot. After all, candid photos really are the best photos – so be sure to let go and enjoy every second of it!

Be Transparent
Communicate with your photographer ahead of time about what you’re hoping to capture on your wedding day. Do you know your man will cry the first time he sees you? Then, make sure your photographer is all over it. Have a special dance you want to share with your bestie? Then, tell your photographer to take those shots. We also suggest doing a little research ahead of time to get some fun ideas on poses, unique angles, etc. Your photographer should also have some fabulous ideas, so be sure to ask!

Find the Best Time
Golden hour happens to be a favorite time to shoot among photographers – and we can’t disagree! The sky is so dreamy and romantic, while the ocean pops against the golden sand. Sunset is another fabulous time to shoot because many beach-goers have gone in for the day, leaving tons of space and privacy for those gorgeous silhouette pictures. Discuss with your photographer what timeline they recommend based on the destination and season you’re getting married in as well!

Determine Photo “Musts”
This is super important and can be forgotten if not planned out ahead of time! Be sure you write down your photo “musts” and give it to your photographer to ensure all the important pictures are taken on your wedding day. Note the photos you definitely need, like photos of the bride and her siblings and the groom with his parents, college buddies, etc. You also might want to discuss a timeline with your photographer, so people are flowing in and out of photos with ease.

Trash the Dress!
While the thought of it might make you cringe, taking a splash in the ocean with your new husband or wife has become a huge trend for destination weddings. There’s just something about being all dressed up and running into the ocean that feels so liberating and free – something that is truly remarkable when captured on camera. Don’t be afraid to let your hair down at the end of the night and just be in the moment with your partner.

We hope you keep these tips in mind when your big photoshoot rolls around – and don’t hesitate to reach out to one of our destination wedding specialists for more assistance when you start planning!

The Hottest Destination Wedding Color Palettes of 2019

8/7/2019

Still undecided on a theme for your upcoming beach wedding? Then, look no further than these gorgeous palettes:

Picture
Aqua and Coral
Probably one of our most common (and stunning!) destination wedding palettes consists of bright shades of coral and cool aqua accents. Pair your reception table linens with a trendy burlap cloth and a printed coral table runner, along with some fun accessories like seashells or candles to reflect the beautiful setting you’re in. Add a touch of shimmer to your theme with silver napkin rings or chargers and use crisp-white lanterns as centerpieces to complete the look. It can’t get much beachier than this!
Picture
Pink and White
Looking for something soft and feminine? Then, this pink and white setup is for you! Tie in vintage elements like rustic birdcages and weathered décor with pink roses, or drape soft pink tulle over your wedding arch for some added romance. This look also contrasts nicely with greenery, so be sure to incorporate eucalyptus into your floral arrangements and bridal bouquets.
Picture
Purple and Orange
If you’re looking to go bold and beautiful, then this purple and orange-scape is your match! The shimmery shades of metallic and vibrant hues are ideal for the majestic and lavish bride. Try hanging a crystal curtain under your wedding arch for a glamourous matrimonial backdrop, while colorful floral pomanders line your isle.  Prepare to have all eyes on you!
Picture
Mauve and Rose Gold
For the romantic bride, you’ll be drawn to this dreamy palette. The soft mauves and dusty pinks will give your wedding guests the fairytale-like vibe brides only dream about. Rose gold vases and silverware add the perfect touch of shimmer against the dusty color scheme, while bits of baby’s breath in your floral arrangements give it a classic elegance that will surely take your breath away!
Picture
Red and Gold
There’s a certain level of royalty that comes with a red and gold color scheme. A golden wedding arch with a hanging crystal chandelier makes a bold statement in contrast with classic red roses. Consider arranging them alone in gold vases for an elegant and timeless look. Other accents we suggest are gold chargers or silverware with red napkins, shimmering mercury glass votives, and golden chivari chairs.

5 Fun Bridesmaid Proposals

2/27/2019

Your guy popped the question and now it’s your turn! Here are 5 fun ways to propose to your favorite girls!

Bride Squad Apparel
What’s more fun than a t-shirt or tank to show everyone they are part of your squad? Online stores like Etsy have a large variety of cute tees, tanks and shirts your girls can wear to everything from your bachelorette party to the morning of your wedding while you’re getting ready. Customize the apparel with your wedding hashtag, the girls’ names or simply, “bridesmaid” or “maid of honor.” Hand it to them in a pretty gift bag and they’re guaranteed to say, “I do!”

Create a Bridesmaid Box
This idea calls for a little more creativity, but we know you’re a crafty bride, after all! So, why not put together a decorative box filled with things you know your girls will love? We’ve seen fun things like personalized wine glasses or koozies, candles and chocolates, keychains and jewelry, a photo frame or a coffee mug…the sky’s the limit! You know your girls best!

Message in a…Balloon
A fun twist on a message in a bottle! Simply cut out strips of paper and write your proposals on them. Then, blow up a balloon and slip your message and confetti or sequins in the opening before knotting it shut. After that, you’ll want to tie a piece of ribbon to one end of the balloon. On the other end, you’ll want to tie a hole-punched note that says “pop me” with a safety pin attached to it. Give it to your girls and watch the confetti fly as they laugh with joy! Simple and cost-effective!

Personal and Sentimental
For all you sentimental brides, this idea is for you! Compile all your favorite pictures of you and your bestie(s) together. Create a collage of all your fun memories, or, perhaps you have one awesome picture that would look great in personalized frame. Include a hand-written note of all the great times you’ve had together and voila! Instant tear-jerker. Be sure to include the tissues!

This is So Punny
If you’re one for sarcasm and one-liners (and donuts) you’ll love this bridesmaid proposal! One that we love in particular is the “donut proposal.” With this one, you’ll need a couple small boxes (for each girl) and a box of donuts. Put some tissue paper and a donut in each box. On the inside top of the box, write “be my bridesmaid/maid of honor?” On the outside of the box write, “I DONUT want to get married without you!” How cute is that!?

We know nothing can top your man’s proposal, but these bridesmaid proposals come in at a close second! Have any other fun ideas for us? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!
