This all-inclusive resort, located next door to its sister property, Riu Guanacaste, offers a "two-for-one" experience where guests can enjoy amenities at both resorts. Nestled on lush grounds alongside pristine sandy beaches, it provides a stunning backdrop for your big day. Plus, with its close proximity to the airport, your guests will appreciate the short and easy journey to paradise. From the scenic surroundings to the affordable luxury, Riu Palace Costa Rica is a perfect choice for couples wanting a memorable wedding without breaking the bank. Location Riu Palace Costa Rica is located on the beach of Matapalo in the Guanacaste region, in the northern Pacific coast of the country. This region is known for its brown sand beaches and lush tropical surroundings. You and your guests will be treated to breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the surrounding mountains. And, unlike the rest of Costa Rica, Guanacaste is less humid, offering a more comfortable climate for your wedding day. While the region is still lush, it has a drier, more sun-soaked atmosphere, making it ideal for couples who want to avoid the heavier humidity found elsewhere in the country. The resort is about 30 minutes from the Liberia International Airport, and is also just a short drive from Playas del Coco, a lively beach town where you and your guests can explore local shops, restaurants, and bars. Additionally, Riu Palace Costa Rica is located next door to Riu Guanacaste, and guests have full access to the amenities and restaurants at both resorts, offering even more options for entertainment and relaxation during your stay. Resort Atmosphere Riu Palace Costa Rica offers an atmosphere of contemporary design with a touch of laid-back Costa Rican charm. The resort’s eclectic design, combined with its lush tropical gardens and expansive beachfront, creates a one-of-a-kind setting for your wedding. Whether you envision a grand celebration or an intimate gathering, this resort provides a gorgeous backdrop for your big day. Riu Palace Costa Rica strikes a balance between relaxation and excitement. Guests can unwind at the spa, lounge by the pool, or enjoy water sports. At night, the resort comes alive with live entertainment, shows, music, and weekly themed nights, providing something for everyone at any time of the day. Accommodations & Dining Experiences The spacious and stylish rooms come equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay, including minibars, 24-hour room service, and private balconies or terraces with ocean or garden views. While the décor can be a little unconventional, this property has a vibe all on its own. The resort mixes a contemporary, funky décor with a non-traditional style, adding a unique touch for those who are seeking a more budget-friendly option for guests. Dining at Riu Palace Costa Rica is an all-inclusive experience, with five restaurants offering a range of cuisine options, from international buffets to Italian, Japanese, and steakhouse fare. While the food might not be gourmet, it’s satisfying and varied enough to please most guests. There’s also a 24-hour lounge bar, guaranteeing to satisfy anyone’s late night craving. Beach & Pools The resort’s beach and pools are some of the most beautiful in Costa Rica, making them ideal for both relaxation and wedding festivities. The resort features four impressive pools, including one with a swim-up bar. The pool areas are beautifully landscaped and offer plenty of lounge space for you and your guests to soak up the sun before or after the ceremony. With access to kayaking, bodyboarding, and windsurfing or partaking in beach volleyball, tennis, or group fitness, guests will always have a place to soak up the sun during the day. Wedding Experiences and Venues One of the standout features of this resort is the personalized service provided by the wedding coordinators. The dedicated wedding team ensures that every aspect of your wedding is tailored to your vision — from the decorations and music to the photography and menu. There are only two venues to choose from: either the beach or a garden setting, but you can expect everything to be flawless no matter which you choose. Riu Palace Costa Rica offers several wedding packages that include everything from floral arrangements and cakes to spa treatments and romantic dinners for two. A unique spin on typical wedding packages, while the different tiers do have various inclusions, they are all centered around a color scheme: from mint to pink, and lavender to blue. Planning a destination wedding can feel like a dream come true, but it can also come with a lot of questions, especially about what's included in the wedding package. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the variety of packages available, you're not alone. Let's break it down to make it easier for you. Understanding Wedding Packages Here's the good news... All resorts offer wedding packages, and while they might seem overwhelmingly different at first glance, the truth is, they are all basically the same. You heard that right! What you find in one package, you can likely get at another resort with a few minor differences. This means you don’t need to stress too much about the package specifics. Here's more good news... The final cost of these packages tends to be similar across resorts, which helps in budget planning and choosing the resort. Key Inclusions Typically, wedding packages at all-inclusive resorts include:
Common Package Pricing Most resorts have a basic package that is complimentary, or free. It will usually include the basics needed to host a wedding for up to 20 people or so. Details vary by resort, of course. Most resorts allow you to build upon the package you choose, which lets you customize the look and feel of your wedding. The common upgraded packages are $2000, $4500 and $8000. Once you find a resort that you love, you can choose the package that best serves your needs. Comparing Resorts Instead of choosing a resort by detailing the differences between wedding packages, it is better to look at what really makes a big difference. Not all resorts are created equal, especially when it comes to group amenities. Some resorts go the extra mile and reward couples with great bonuses for larger wedding groups, like free room upgrades, complimentary nights or rooms, or free wedding events. Others resorts take the opposite approach and charge couples additional fees if your guest list exceeds a certain number. This is where careful comparison becomes crucial, and that's where we at Romance Travel Group step in. How We Can Help At Romance Travel Group, we take the time to understand what different resorts offer, including any special freebies or incentives for wedding groups. Our role is to guide you through these options, ensuring you choose a resort that not only aligns with your dream wedding vision but also offers the best value and experience for you and your guests. We know the ins and outs of the packages and can help you navigate through them effortlessly. Planning your destination wedding should be a joyful experience, not a stressful one. By understanding what’s included in wedding packages and how to compare resorts, you can focus on what truly matters – celebrating your love with family and friends in a beautiful setting.
Schedule your free consultation call today! One of the first questions on every couple's mind is, "How much will our destination wedding cost?" It's a great question and important to consider as you plan your special day. On average, a destination wedding with about 50 guests typically costs around $15,000. However, it's important to remember that this is an average figure. The actual cost of your wedding can vary significantly based on several factors. Let's explore. Resort Selection All-inclusive resorts throughout Mexico and the Caribbean vary significantly. Some might be more luxurious and, therefore, more expensive. Choosing the right resort is crucial as it sets the tone for your entire wedding experience. Whether you want an intimate beachfront ceremony or a grand celebration, there's a resort that will match your vision and budget. One thing is certain... all-inclusive is the way to go! Having a set price for guests makes it so much easier to budget, and allows you a variety of extra perks and reduced costs. This is where an experienced destination wedding travel agent really shines! Simply put… we know the resorts. We know which ones price well while offering an excellent value. We know which resorts to stay away from. We spend time at the resorts so we can easily compare them and help you make the best choice based on your needs. No amount of Googling or resort review reading can replace the expertise of a good travel agency like Romance Travel Group. Wedding Date Picking a date can affect costs. Peak seasons, like holidays and summer months, will be pricier than off-peak times. If you're flexible with your wedding date, choosing a less popular time can lead to significant savings. Plus, off-peak seasons often come with more availability and special offers. Peak season = high rates: mid-Jan through Easter, all major holidays Mid-season = average rates: Easter through August, early January Low season = low rates: September through early November, early December Destination The location you choose also plays a role in the overall cost. Some destinations, like Mexico, offer more affordable options compared to others in the Caribbean. Each destination has its unique charm and varying costs for travel and accommodation. It's essential to research and choose a location that fits both your dreams and your budget. A major expense to consider for you and your guests will be the flight. One way to rule out a few destinations is to look at the cost of the flights and the flight itinerary. You’ll quickly see which destinations to rule out based on flight details. Personal Choices Your personal preferences for things like decor, entertainment, and extras will influence the final cost. Do you envision a simple beachside ceremony or a lavish event with all the bells and whistles? Customizing your wedding to reflect your style is part of the fun, and we at Romance Travel Group can help you prioritize what's most important to you. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to estimate what your destination wedding would cost? Well guess what? There is! We built our "Destination Wedding Cost Calculator" for exactly this reason. Give it a try! Remember, your destination wedding is a unique event, and you have the flexibility to control many aspects of the budget. By making informed decisions and working with experienced professionals, you can have a beautiful wedding that fits your budget. Curious what wedding packages are available for your destination wedding? Then, keep reading for some insight! Overall, All Wedding Packages Are SimilarAll resorts have wedding packages. And frankly, they are all pretty much the same. What one hotel has to offer, other hotels can provide as well. Most of them include everything from expert wedding designers and basic décor, to sound systems, the ceremony officiant, a wedding certificate, a semi-private dinner, a honeymoon package, and more! What's a semi-private dinner? "Semi-private" means a dinner reservation in one of the resort's restaurants, sectioned off for your group, creating a "semi-private" atmosphere. There will be other resort guests in the restaurant with you. "Private" on the other hand, means you choose the venue, menu, decor and entertainment, and only your wedding guests are in attendance. Similar Wedding Package CostsMost resorts have a complimentary wedding package option, making most resorts quite similar in terms of pricing. We typically recommend taking advantage of the free package if there is one, then add in the pops of customization where it matters most to you. Wedding packages are usually non-negotiable (they won’t allow you to swap spa treatments for a cocktail party) but resorts will have plenty of options for you to add to your liking. Creating your package like this means you can prioritize the things that matter most to you, without paying for things you really don't want or need. Look for The Best Group AmenitiesIf you really want to dive deeper into wedding packages, consider comparing each resort’s "group amenities." Some resorts offer a ton of great freebies and incentives for couples hosting their wedding with them, while other resorts will actually charge you extra for having too many guests. We’ll make it easy for you by including the best options on our list of recommendations. The larger your guest list the more important it is to choose a resort with a great group package. Pick Your Dream Resort FIRSTSince wedding packages are so similar, we recommend selecting your dream resort first. Look at the resort’s amenities, rooms, dining options, beach, pool scene. Does the overall resort atmosphere match the vibe you are going for for your wedding? Can you picture your guests hanging out in the pool and enjoying their time? Once you decide on the perfect resort, then you can customize the wedding package of your dreams. How to Select the Best ResortThis all depends on your preferences! What amenities are important to you? Are you a beach-lover? A foodie? Want something private and adult-only? These are the things you’ll want to add to your wish list when working with your destination wedding specialist. Not only will you save money, but you will also have the opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends for a full four days, creating lasting memories together. Tips for Saving Money on a Destination WeddingThere are several ways to save money on a destination wedding without sacrificing quality. Why did you choose Romance Travel Group?
After doing some research around how to start planning a destination wedding in Mexico, I came across RTG in a Google search. I chose RTG after having a kick-off call with Shelli. She made me feel very comfortable with the way she explained how her company works, their process, and how they care about each unique wedding; it made me excited to want to move forward with even doing a destination wedding. She is SO friendly! What led you to choose a destination wedding? My husband and I knew we didn’t want to get married in Minnesota (where we live). After exploring destination weddings in other states (Arizona, Florida, and North Carolina), I realized how complex and expensive it’d be to do a “destination” wedding elsewhere in the US. Then, someone asked if I had thought about doing it in Mexico. I was hesitant at first, but after doing some research online, I read that destination weddings at all inclusive resorts in Mexico are so much more affordable! We probably saved ourselves $10-$15k just by doing it in Mexico. How did you select the resort? What were the deciding factors? I explained my budget, resort must-haves, and style I was looking for to Shelli. I was excited about all of the unique areas around the resort that would be awesome for pictures and it was family friendly which was important to us since there would be kids traveling. What were some of your biggest fears about having a destination wedding? Planning a wedding sight unseen. But, it ended up exceeding my expectations once I saw how everything was curated and set up for each event. Describe what it was like working with the wedding coordinator at the resort? What went well? Any challenges? The wedding coordinator was very friendly, patient, flexible, and listened to my budget concerns…helping to give me ideas and options that would fit into what I wanted to spend. The biggest challenge was getting timely responses from them. At one point, I hadn’t heard from them for 3 months and we were 1-2 months away from the wedding without having finalized all selections! Once back in touch with them, finalizing planning went well and they were really responsive. Everyone loves a little something for free, right? Here's our latest lineup of the best resorts offering complimentary wedding packages. Let's explore these together to see which option works best for your destination wedding dreams! Royalton Resorts

Curious what our couples ask us most often during the wedding planning process? We're revealing their questions, below! How much does a destination wedding cost? For 7-nights at an all-inclusive resort, expect to spend approximately $3,000 for the both of you. Most resorts charge between $150-$250 per person, per night – but that includes your room, your meals, your drinks, taxes and airport transportation. For 2 round-trip flights, you’re looking at a total cost of around $1,000. This will also be dependent upon the airline you’re using, the time of year, and of course, your destination of choice. The wedding usually consists of 4 events; a welcome party, the ceremony, a cocktail hour, and a dinner reception. Wedding packages typically include the ceremony location, bride’s bouquet, groom’s boutonniere, officiant, cake, chairs for about 40 guests. Packages range from $0 (you read that right!) to $15,000, but most couples all into the mid-range of $5000 - $7000. So, for a grand total of about $10,000, you and your fiancé can enjoy a week-long tropical wedding celebration for about a quarter of the cost of a normal wedding! For more on costs, check out our Destination Wedding Cost chart. Which resorts are the best to get married? There's a lot to think about! Destinations, budgets, guest count, venue ideas. Why spend nearly $40k on a traditional wedding, when you can have a unique and intimate destination wedding for under $10k? Here are seven tips for keeping your budget in check without sacrificing any of the fun or frills: Go All-Inclusive For the best value, we highly recommend going all-inclusive. When all your meals, drinks, entertainment, airport shuttles and taxes are included, guests can gauge their budgets and plan accordingly. This is especially true for wedding groups, as the cost you pay for private dinners and events is significantly reduced. Convenience is also huge reason couples opt for all-inclusive. It is the best way to travel! Pick Off-Season The best rates are found during off-season in September and October. Besides the best room rates, you’ll find that resorts have lower occupancy levels during this time, leaving plenty of pool chairs open for everyone. November and December are also good options, as long as you avoid the holidays (when rates and occupancy goes way up)! Choose a Simple Setting A big draw to having a destination wedding is the natural and intimate setting it presents. Not only will it save you money on venue costs, but sometimes less really is more. After all, nothing says “I love you” like some swaying palm trees and an ocean view! Bring Your Own Vendors Have a photographer friend or hair-stylist BFF? Perhaps a DJ’ing college roomie? Well, then, you’re in luck! As long as these pros are staying at the resort with you for three nights, they are not typically considered outside vendors and you won’t have to pay extra to use them. Ask us how you can negotiate travel for these services. Free Wedding Package Most destination wedding resorts offer a complimentary wedding package, which covers all the elements you’ll need to pull off the perfect wedding. Some even offer an extravagant package that includes more than you’ll ever need. We recommend starting out with the basic package first, then add in where it makes sense! Honeymoon Split-Stay Another great way to cut down on costs is to combine your destination wedding and honeymoon (aka, a split-stay). Most couples stay at the wedding resort for 5-6 nights while guests are there, then move to a new resort where you can honeymoon for 3-4 more nights. This will save you a lot in airfare! Use a Destination Wedding Planner Last but not least…use a wedding travel specialist (that’s us!). A good travel pro will make suggestions for you and knows the resorts that offer the most amenities based on what your needs are. Trust us, you’ll be glad you did! Looking for a little push in the right direction? Then, fill out our destination wedding questionnaire to get the conversation started. We’ll get back in touch with you soon to chat! P.S. Destination Weddings are Cost-EfficientIt's Super Affordable One of the biggest destination wedding myths we hear often, is that it’s too expensive, but with the traditional American wedding costing around $30,000 or more, it's no wonder most people assume a wedding in a tropical paradise would be more. Luckily, most properties in Mexico can hold a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception for you and your guests for as little as $10,000 – significantly cheaper than your average wedding. We also have a number of properties that offer free wedding packages, which include everything from a private ceremony location, to the cake and drinks. You Can Truly Make it YoursAll The Add-Ons How often do you hear the word “complimentary” associated with planning a wedding? Yeah, not so much. But in Mexico, it’s no surprise to see complimentary sky massages, champagne and strawberries, or private dinners thrown in as a way of saying “congrats” to the happy couple. We’ve even helped our brides and grooms get complimentary honeymoon nights as an added bonus. 😉 And Customizations Mexico is one of our most popular destinations for brides because of how abundant the options are. We partner with a variety of properties who value your uniqueness and creativity, so that ocean pier ceremony you’ve been dreaming about? Done. The monogrammed dance floor and custom cocktail you requested? You’ve got it.
