What led you to a destination wedding?
We chose a destination wedding because of a trip we took together to Cancun back in 2022. It was Gabby's first time traveling out of the country and we had the most fun trip ever, and knew we wanted to relive the fun whenever we got married. We knew to keep it small with just close loved ones and were so happy we did!

How did you select the resort? What were the deciding factors?
We were presented with a wonderful document put together by Romance Travel Group that outlined great resorts - they broke down room rates, resort amenities, wedding packages and more. We narrowed it down to 3 of the approximately 10 sent to us. We went to visit each hotel and we felt the wedding locations at the Fives matched our preferences the best. Along with that, their wedding team was wonderful, room rates were reasonable, and we loved the atmosphere!

Why did you choose Romance Travel Group?
We sought out Romance Travel Group after an unpleasant experience with a family friend recommended to us. They had raving reviews online, so we decided to set up an intro call. Abigail was incredibly professional on our phone call and gave us amazing details on what to expect when working with them - things such as involvement in rooming lists, transportation, cancellation policies, credits, amenities, etc. We had a great feeling from the start and felt we would be in good hands for the planning, and we certainly were!

Describe what it was like working with the wedding coordinator at the resort. What went well? Any challenges?
We had a rocky start with our first coordinator. For instance, she was unresponsive via email and didn’t show up to calls. When we reached out to the head of the wedding department about our concerns, she instantly gave us a new coordinator and apologized. We worked with Graciela as our new coordinator and she was OUTSTANDING. She was incredibly responsive, transparent, knowledgeable, kind, organized, and personable. We truly had no issues with her! 

Describe the booking process for your guests. Did they find it easy to navigate?
Our guests were incredibly pleased with the booking process! We got nothing but positive feedback from them about how easy and smooth it was to book their room for the wedding!

Tell us about your wedding dress - how did you find it? Who went shopping with you? How did you feel wearing your dress?
I narrowed down the shopping to 2 stores to not overwhelm myself. My 2 sisters and my mom flew in from out of town to come shopping with me, which was really fun. I found one dress I really loved at the first place but wanted to give the 2nd place a try. It was at the 2nd place where I found THE dress. I cried thinking about walking down the aisle to Humberto in it, and knew I couldn't look at anything else!

Describe the meeting onsite you had with the wedding team when you arrived at the resort.
We met with our onsite Coordinator, Deisy, who met with us to talk through the itinerary and items ordered for all of our events for the weekend. We dropped off a few items for her team to set up for us and it was really that simple! Very stress-free.

How easy/difficult was it to travel with your dress? Did you carry it on or store it? Did you get a lot of comments at the airport?
I carried my dress on to the plane as I had anxiety about putting it in any bag that could have been checked! I had to fold it up pretty small to get it through the TSA scanner, but it wasn't too bad. My dress was really embellished so it was a bit heavy, so I found myself getting a little sore at times, but not a huge issue! I stored it at the front of the plane in the little closet to hang up for the flight and it was totally fine. We got a lot of comments both at our home airport and the Cancun airport wishing us congratulations!

Were your guests wowed by the resort and the all inclusive concept? What was their reaction?
Our guests were really pleased with the overall vibes of the resort! They took advantage of all the amenities that were included in their room rate and thought the resort was absolutely beautiful! Everyone seemed to be able to relax, have fun, and let loose which was great.

In what ways did Romance Travel Group make the planning less stressful for you?
Romance Travel Group made this entire process stress free. They stayed on top of guests booking their rooms and sent constant reminders to our guests so we didn't have to do it. They sent us updated rooming lists when we needed them and let us know of any outstanding items. They help set up transportation for our guests and sent a detailed instruction email about how to grab their ride at the airport. They were very helpful on phone calls and really took a big chunk of potential questions away from us.

What was the best part of having a destination wedding?
The best part was that it felt like we could truly relax and enjoy ourselves. We kept it small, which made it easy to manage the guests, and the hotel turns around so many weddings a year that they keep it to the point and makes it very easy to plan. A lot of it feels like you aren't planning every second of the day, which can be stressful, and we genuinely enjoyed ourselves. To lay out on the beach and enjoy time with friends days before your wedding is a dream. We loved every minute of it!

Would you recommend Romance Travel Group to other couple considering a destination wedding?
10000000% YES! We would not have done things any differently with RTG. Abigail and Heather were outstanding to work with and we were never concerned about anything to do with sleeping rooms and transportation to/from the airport. Our guests RAVED about how great they were with communicating about deadlines, important items to bring, and things to expect on property. They are incredibly knowledgeable, detail oriented, responsive, caring, and professional. Their little gifts they sent throughout the planning process was such a sweet surprise and made us smile! We would recommend RTG to anyone!!! Seriously the BEST!! We are so grateful to have worked with them on our special day!
