Mackenzie & Jace chose a destination wedding because they wanted to spend a full week at an all-inclusive resort with their favorite people and create something more relaxed and memorable than a traditional one-day wedding at home. Mackenzie also shared that she isn’t naturally a big planner, so having the destination wedding process (and support) made everything feel much more doable.
When it came to choosing their resort, they knew they wanted a smaller property, one centralized pool area, and strong food reviews. Even though the wedding coordinator didn’t reach out until about three months before the wedding (which made them a little nervous at first), Mackenzie said the planning process went smoothly with emails, video chats, and an in-person meeting once they arrived. Their symbolic ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception felt traditional—but more casual and relaxed than a wedding at home, even with weather changes on the big day.
