One of the most common questions couples ask is, “How much should we tip our wedding vendors?”

The truth is, tipping is always about gratitude. It is simply a way to recognize a job well done and thank the people who helped make your wedding day feel so special.

That said, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. The numbers below are meant to give you a helpful starting point, but your final decision should reflect the level of service you received. Also, be sure to check your contracts carefully. Sometimes gratuities are already included, which can change what you choose to tip on the wedding day.

Recommended Wedding Vendor Tipping Guide

Here are a few common destination wedding vendor tipping guidelines:

Wedding Coordinator: $100–$200 - They make it all happen!

Officiant: $50–$100

Waitstaff: $20 per person - You can tip each person individually or provide one lump sum to the food and beverage manager.

Makeup Artist / Hair Stylist: $10 per service provided

DJ: $100–$150

Live Musicians: $50 per person

Photographer: $50–$100 per person

Videographer: $50–$100 per person

When Should You Tip Wedding Vendors?

The best time to hand out tips is usually toward the end of the evening.

To make this easy, prepare labeled envelopes with cash ahead of time and ask someone you trust to distribute them. Your maid of honor, best man, a parent, or your wedding coordinator can usually handle this for you.

And if you do not get a chance to personally thank every vendor before they leave, do not stress. They completely understand that your attention is being pulled in a hundred directions on your wedding day.

A Few Helpful Wedding Tipping Tips

Before the wedding day arrives, here are a few smart things to do:

  • Review your contracts. Some resorts and vendors include gratuities in their pricing.
  • Prepare envelopes ahead of time. This keeps things organized and avoids last-minute confusion.
  • Assign one trusted person to handle distribution. You do not need to manage this yourself.
  • Tip based on service. Great service deserves extra appreciation.
