Thinking about a destination wedding? Then be sure to consider these things before getting started!

LET'S START WEDDING PLANNING!

1.) Your Budget

Traditional weddings can easily reach $30,000 or more, while we can plan the destination wedding of your dreams for about a quarter of the cost. Your total usually comes down to three factors: the resort, the airfare, and the wedding package. These shift with travel dates and where you are headed, so keep timing and location in mind when you map out how much a destination wedding costs.

2.) Your Destination of Choice

Consider choosing a spot that is simple for guests to reach. Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic are typically convenient with flights around three to five hours. More exotic locations often require connections and longer transfers, which can make travel days feel long. You can still get the look and vibe you want without marathon travel!

3.) Your Wedding Date

Your travel costs will depend heavily on your date. Peak season usually runs from mid January through Easter and brings the highest rates. Mid season is early January and Easter through August with more moderate pricing. For a better bargain, look at September through early November or early December. 4.) Your Guest Count

On average, about 50 percent of invited guests are able to attend a destination wedding. Do not let that discourage you! Time off and travel are real considerations. Many couples plan a celebration at home afterward so everyone can share in the joy.

5.) Your Resort Preference

Consider a few of your preferences! Would you like adults only or family friendly, and would you prefer a quiet or lively atmosphere? We highly recommend all inclusive resorts because meals and drinks are covered, which makes things easier on your guests and their budgets. Many all inclusive properties also include perks like semi private receptions, resort credits, and room upgrades.

6.) Your Ceremony Style

Envisioning yourself tying the knot on the beach? Or perhaps, you’ve thought about saying “I do” under a beautifully-decorated gazebo? Some couples even go all out on a swanky rooftop! Oftentimes, your resort will offer many options for you to choose from based on your preferences and guest count. You’ll even have a plan B lined up in case it rains, so no need to worry about that!

7.) Your Ceremony Type

A legal ceremony gives you a marriage certificate from your destination and is recognized at home. It often involves extra paperwork, added fees, and sometimes even blood tests! A symbolic ceremony has no legal steps and makes up about 80 percent of destination weddings. Many couples handle the legal part with their clergy or courthouse before they travel. A symbolic ceremony is just so much easier!
